R.I.P. Michael Clarke Duncan Dies; Actor Was 54

About six weeks after he suffered a cardiac arrest and needed his fiancee - Omarosa Manigault - to revive him and get him to the hospital, actor Michael Clarke Duncan has passed away. He was 54.

Best known for his role in The Green Mile and most recently a series regular on Fox's The Finder, Duncan reportedly died unexpectedly, though he was hospitalized at the time.

TMZ sources say Omarosa's mother was at Duncan's side, while the former Apprentice star herself simply left the room for a short while and returned to the horrible news.

While details are sketchy at the moment, the actor's rep says his client never fully recovered from last month's myocardial infarction. The rep adds in a statement:

"[Omarosa] Manigault is grateful for all of your prayers and asks for privacy at this time. Celebrations of his life, both private and public, will be announced at a later date."

Prior to his Oscar nomination for The Green Mile, the 6'5", 300-pound Duncan served as bodyguard for such stars as Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Jamie Foxx, LL Cool J and Notorious B.I.G.

Banco Nacional de Angola (BNA) anunciou elevadas vendas no mercado primário de câmbio

Huambo - Na semana de 11 a 15 de Junho,o Banco Nacional de Angola (BNA) vendeu, entre os dias 11 e 15, divisas ao sistema bancário no montante de 350 milhões dólares, refere uma nota da instituição enviada ao Jornal de Angola.
O banco central anunciou que, naquele período, a taxa de câmbio média de referência de venda do kwanza face ao dólar se situou em 95,591, mantendo-se a estabilidade observada no mercado cambial.
Na mesma semana, prossegue o documento, não foram emitidos Títulos do Tesouro, tendo a regulação da liquidez sido efectuada por intermédio de operações de mercado aberto, no montante de 20,1 mil milhões.
Para a gestão da despesa corrente do Tesouro Nacional, o BNA colocou no mercado primário Títulos do Tesouro Nacional no montante de 8,1 mil milhões, dos quais 4,7 mil milhões em Bilhetes do Tesouro e 3,5 mil milhões em Obrigações do Tesouro.
As taxas de juro médias apuradas foram de 3,31 e 3,65 por cento ao ano para os Bilhetes do Tesouro com 91 e 364 dias de maturidade.
Para as Obrigações do Tesouro, as taxas de juro mantêm-se em 7, 7,25, 7,50 e 7,75 por cento para as maturidades de dois, três, quatro e cinco anos.
No mercado interbancário, os bancos realizaram transacções de liquidez overnight sem garantia de títulos, no montante de 287,2 mil milhões de kwanzas, cerca de 45,6 por cento superior ao da semana anterior, de 197,3 mil milhões. O volume médio diário das transacções de liquidez foi de 49,1 mil milhões de kwanzas.
A LUIBOR overnight (um dia) apurada no último dia da semana foi de 5,48 por cento, cerca de 0,11 por cento inferior à apurada na semana anterior.
As LUIBOR para as maturidades de 30, 90, 180, 270 e 360 dias situaram-se em 7,79, 8,84, 9,57, 10,51 e 10,98 por cento, igualmente com reduções entre -0,08 e -0,16 por cento face à semana anterior.

Cooperação 2012: Triplicam as trocas comerciais entre África e os Estados Unidos da América (EUA)

Luanda - As trocas comerciais entre África e os Estados Unidos da América (EUA) desde a criação da AGOA passaram de 30 mil milhões de dólares em 2000 para 90 mil milhões em 2011, disse hoje, em Luanda, o conselheiro político e económico da Embaixada norte-americana, Thomas Hastings.
Ao dissertar sobre o tema AGOA, Lei para o Crescimento e Oportunidade de África, Thomas Hasting referiu que depois de 12 anos de existência do programa, o comércio entre os dois continentes triplicou.
“Angola é hoje o segundo maior exportador e o terceiro maior parceiro dos Estados Unidos” referiu o conselheiro
Informou que a AGOA foi criada com o objectivo de facilitar o comércio entre os EUA e os países da África Subsariana sem o pagamento de qualquer imposto.
Thomas Hastings informou que os países que beneficiam da AGOA devem apresentar como critérios de qualificação, uma economia aberta, o respeito pelos direitos humanos e boa governação.
“Por razões históricas outras regiões do mundo estão mais desenvolvidas e não necessitam desta ajuda. Todos os anos o AGOA estuda a situação dos países que podem fazer parte deste programa,” sublinhou.
Referiu que Angola exporta apenas o petróleo e diamante e que a diversificação de produtos constitui ainda um grande problema para o país, adiantando que “em outros países africanos há diversificação”.
“Quando se fala em exportar produtos não é necessário pensar só nos Estados Unidos. Este é um mercado exigente e distante. Angola tem oportunidades de estabelecer negócio na região, sobretudo no ramo da agricultura” sublinhou.
Segundo o prelector a economia global é o grande motor do crescimento económico e pode melhorar o bem-estar da população.
Acrescentou que o mercado dos Estados Unidos está aberto a todos os países africanos que têm boa governação, e que, cabe a estes, saber que produtos comercializar.
Os Estados Unidos adoptaram a AGOA para incentivar a reforma dos sistemas económicos e comercial de África, fortalecer os mercados e desenvolver uma relação comercial a longo prazo mutuamente benéfica que proporcione o aumento do emprego para os dois continentes.
